Day 3, Waking Up, Sensations
Today I woke up late and had a lot to get done before running an errand. I didn’t want to meditate because I had anxiety around what I had to do. But instead of skipping my meditation I just sat down and did it. I started Day 3 of the Waking Up course sitting outside on a cushion. Today Sam discussed focusing on the sensations of your body, whether that was the sensation of breathing, your feet on the floor, or the sun shining on your skin. My thoughts and anxiety were bothering me more than normal so I counted my breaths and it helped a lot. I also did a full body scan which helped me feel grounded and present. He advised me to take the calm feeling felt during meditation and check back into it, by breathing, whenever I may have a negative feeling. There was a moment where I felt anger, so I tapped into my breathing and I was able to get back into the meditative state that I was in this morning.
