Day 7 Waking Up, Awareness

Today I did Day 7 of the Waking Up course. It was a pretty standard meditation, although this time Harris placed great importance on the awareness of your current feelings and energy. I was feeling rather anxious, like I often am, and that anxiety felt like it surrounded me like a cloud. My anxiety made my energy seem tense and unstable as well, but it was really rewarding to check into my current feelings and notice that they’re there. When doing these meditations my thoughts and anxiety seem to stem from the future, whether that’s a project I have to finish or planning on what to write about the specific meditation. I find it interesting that the most minuscule things can seem so big when I’m anxious. I hope that doing these meditations will help my anxiety, after all, I always feel more calm and less anxious after practicing meditation. Today my Father also approached me about doing a positive psychology course, it sounds interesting and very beneficial for my health and education.
